Mike Wells recently passed away after a battle with leukemia.  In collaboration with John Law, Mike entered the field of insect biochemistry in 1986. Mike’s research resulted in numerous contributions to the study of lipid transport, digestive enzyme regulation, and the metabolism of blood meals.  Mike was also an innovator in science education.  His greatest contribution was leading the way for the many scientists that passed  through his lab and classroom. We are all better for having known him. He will be missed but not forgotten.

A reunion of Mike Wells collegues is planned for the fall of 2006.  Look here for updates as details become available.

We combine biochemical, physiological and molecular biological approaches in the study of insects. Our major experimental insects are the tobacco hornworm, Manduca sexta and the yellow fever mosquito Aedes aegypti.
